I Looked at a News Piece on Video Game Addict Treatment With Subliminal Signals. Ridiculous?

Question by Jahn: I looked at a news piece on video game addict treatment with subliminal signals. Ridiculous?
A good game takes weeks and months to complete and yes, there is the heartbreak of not skilled enough to complete. Something about going treatment seems really peculiar. Why not just use a dagger or scissors and cut the power cord? I can imagine what a special shakey gathering of gamers could be. It would probably get interesting to hear them talk about levels and such but not play. But maybe they have no social skills. Imagine what weird wrecks they might be if some college grad started pep talking them. Thoughts?

It is not about not having social skills, a lot of the games that real gamers play require social skills, they have to work in guilds with other team mates and be able to plan tactical attacks as a team. I live with a gamer, my boyfriend is hooked on world of warcraft and its an odd addiction. It is nothing like drugs or alcohol but the need to constantly level up. Cut the power cord? right…like that cant be replaced? I do get lost in his ramblings about looting raids and concurring quests but i have heard stories of people killing themselves over the game. I went through a time where i played diablo but i lost interest when i lost the time to play, when i was playing though, i would get lost in it… Time would just fly by, i would think i had been playing for 20 minutes when it had been 2 hours. for some odd reason it can become addictive. what makes you think that college grads don’t play video games? who is to say those addicts aren’t college grads themselves?

Well sir, it would be like any other junkie, they would go and get another game systom, or power cord. You can become addicted to anything, so please try to keep that in mind.
